Vitrified bond is a kind of inorganic bond, which is widely used. Vitrified bond grinding wheels are generally used for rough grinding, semi-fine grinding, forming grinding with large contact area, and grinding of sintered body of super hard abrasives. Moreover, grinding wheels of various particle sizes, hardness, structure, shape and size can be made by using vitrified bond.
The main advantages of vitrified bond are: low price, stable performance, not affected by dry and wet, temperature change and storage time; good heat resistance, sharp cutting, high grinding efficiency, less heat and plug in the grinding process, small thermal expansion; good corrosion resistance; larger bonding force between vitrified bond and abrasives, good wear resistance, which can keep the shape and contour of grinding wheel well and control the machining precision easily.
However, due to the larger brittleness and poor elasticity of the vitrified bond, it can not bear the larger side twisting force and impact force, so it can not be used to manufacture the thinner grinding wheel. In addition, the friction and heat generated by the vitrified bond grinding wheel are relatively larger during grinding, so when you choose an “wrong” grinding wheel, the burns and cracks are easily caused.
