How To Choose A Polishing Wheel?

Dec 15, 2025

The selection of polishing wheels is also very important. Here, we will take a detailed look at the working principles of polishing workpieces with a polishing machine, and what are the methods for selecting polishing wheels for polishing different workpieces? When polishing workpieces with a round tube polishing machine, the polishing wheels used will also differ depending on the material, diameter, and hardness of the workpiece.

1. Nylon wheels are made of nylon fiber mesh, mineral sand, and bonding resin. These polishing wheels offer advantages such as elastic grinding, cold cutting, and anti-clogging. Compared to grinding wheels of the same grit, nylon wheels produce a finer, softer, and brighter finish. They have stronger cutting power than cloth wheels and sisal wheels, making them suitable for pre-treatment processes before electroplating and mirror polishing.

2. Sieves are also a commonly used polishing wheel, suitable for polishing the surfaces of aluminum products, electroplated products, and stainless steel products.

3. For fine polishing of small workpieces, non-stitched cloth polishing wheels can be selected. These polishing wheels are made of fine and soft cotton cloth and are suitable for polishing complex shapes. Stitched polishing wheels are made of coarse cloth or non-woven fabric and are suitable for polishing the surface of workpieces with coatings.

4. The air-cooled cloth wheel is ring-shaped with a metal disc at the base. This type of polishing wheel is suitable for polishing large workpieces.
