The Difference Between Grinding And Cutting

Sep 06, 2019

Different tools are used: The tool used for grinding is “grinding wheel”, and the tool used for cutting is “tool”. The grinding wheel in the grinding wheel is equal to the cutting edge on the tool. The bonding agent of the grinding wheel is equal to the holder or the tool holder that holds the cutting edge. The air hole of the grinding wheel is equal to the chip evacuation space of the tool.

Characteristics of grinding: Compared to grinding, cutting can play a role of high-speed machining when processing soft, easy-to-machine materials due to different physical processes.

In addition, it is also possible to conform to a complicated workpiece shape grinding process, and the range in which the shape that can be processed is limited is large.

Grinding has the following advantages:

1 Abrasives are harder than workpieces: Mineral abrasives are much harder than metal, so they can process very hard materials.

2 Abrasive particles are produced continuously: when the tool tip is passivated, only the tool can be changed, and the grinding wheel can automatically generate new abrasive grains due to the “self-sharpening effect”.

3 Grinding speed is fast: There are countless tool tips at the same time, even if the cutting amount is small, it can have high processing efficiency.

Machining angle: When processing difficult-to-cut materials, the grinding process is also advantageous due to different processing angles!

In the field of machining, when the dimensional accuracy and surface roughness requirements are relatively good, the hardness of the material and the difficulty of processing are high, the grinding method is biased.
