Sintered Fused Alumina

Sintered fused alumina is new abrasive grains smelted from aluminum oxide, suitable for heavy duty grinding wheels, micro crystalline structure, to replace the zirconia grains, performance close to Ceramic abrasive grains.

Sintered fused alumina, also known as sintered corundum, or semi-melted alumina. It refers to a refractory clinker which is obtained by calcining alumina (or industrial alumina) as a raw material, grinding the ball or body, and sintering at a high temperature of 1750 to 1900 °C. The sintered alumina containing Al₂O₃ 99% or more is mostly formed by directly combining uniform fine crystal corundum. 

The gas-producing rate is below 3.0%, the bulk density is 3.60%/m³, the refractoriness is close to the melting point of corundum, and it has good volume stability and chemical stability at high temperature, and is not eroded by reducing atmosphere, molten glass and molten metal, normal temperature, high temperature mechanical strength and wear resistance.

Sintered fused alumina abrasives have twice the material removal rate of difficult-to-machine materials such as nickel alloys, stainless steels, and high-temperature alloys, and have a service life seven times that of alumina abrasives. TG abrasives have a new abrasive grain shape.
