Zirconia fused alumina zirconium oxide detection method:
1. Whether the zirconium oxide content is stable is the most important indicator to determine whether the quality of AZ-40 zirconia fused alumina is stable.
2. The fundamental reason for the fluctuation of product grinding performance is the change of abrasive hardness and toughness, and the reason for the change of hardness and toughness is the change of microstructure. The reason for the change of microstructure is the toughening and strengthening of particle phase or stress concentration caused by phase separation. Therefore, the key to stabilizing product quality is to control phase separation.
There are two methods for detecting zirconium oxide content used by zirconia fused alumina manufacturers:
(1) Mandelic acid weight method: accuracy rate 81%;
(2) X-ray fluorescence spectroscopy: accuracy rate 89%.
Uses of zirconia fused alumina abrasives:
1. The research and development of zirconia fused alumina was originally designed for grinding stainless steel and titanium alloys, but now its scope of use is getting wider and wider and is constantly extending.
2. Coated abrasives: cloth base, paper base, film, non-woven fabric, steel paper sanding disc, etc. Cloth-based zirconia fused alumina products are not only used to make sanding belts, but also have an increasing proportion of sanding discs;
3. Bonded abrasives: rail grinding wheels, cutting discs, angle grinding discs, etc.;
4. At 650℃, AZ-40 zirconia fused alumina has a phase change from tetragonal phase to monoclinic phase, and the volume increases significantly. This is why zirconia fused alumina abrasives cannot be used to make ceramic grinding wheels (the firing temperature of ceramic grinding wheels is greater than 1000℃), and are mostly used to make resin grinding wheels (the curing temperature of resin grinding wheels is less than 150℃).
