Brown Aluminum Oxide Is Different From Zirconia Fused Alumina In Five Aspects

Corundum is an indispensable raw material in modern industry, among which brown aluminum oxide plays the most prominent role. Today, let's learn about brown fused alumina and zirconia fused alumina.


Brown aluminum oxide: It is smelted from alumina, and its main component is α-Al2O3. It has a brown appearance, good toughness, can withstand great pressure, and has the characteristics of high temperature resistance, oxidation resistance, corrosion resistance and chemical stability. It is widely used in the manufacture of ordinary abrasive tools.


Zirconia fused alumina is divided into two types. One is molten zirconia fused alumina, the main components of which are 40% ZrO2 and 60% Al2O3. The small crystal strength of zirconium corundum is higher than that of large crystals. The other is sintered zirconium corundum, the main components of which are ZrO2 and Al2O3. Its toughness is 2.3 times that of corundum, and its grinding ability is 1-3 times higher than that of ordinary corundum.

 

 

Five differences between brown aluminum oxide and zirconia fused alumina

 

1. Different raw materials: The raw materials of brown fused alumina are bauxite, anthracite and iron ore. The raw materials of zirconium corundum are alumina powder and zirconium.


2. Different colors: Since the alumina content of zirconia fused alumina is higher than that of brown aluminum oxide, the color is white, and brown fused alumina is brown-black.


3. Different ingredients: Although both brown aluminum oxide and zirconium corundum contain alumina, the alumina content of zirconium corundum is more than 99%, and the alumina content of brown fused alumina is about 95%.


4. Different hardness: The hardness of zirconia fused alumina is slightly higher than that of brown corundum. Abrasives are crystalline compounds with good hardness and toughness, fine crystal size, good wear resistance, but the production cost is high and the output is low, so the price is relatively high. Brown fused alumina abrasive has medium hardness, weak grinding effect, and relatively low price.


5. Different performance: Brown aluminum oxide has the characteristics of high purity, good crystallization, strong fluidity, low linear expansion coefficient, and corrosion resistance. Zirconia corundum has the characteristics of high purity, good self-sharpening, acid and alkali corrosion resistance, high temperature resistance, and stable thermal performance. In comparison, the hardness of zirconium corundum is higher than that of brown fused alumina.


Since zirconia fused alumina and brown aluminum oxide are both refractory materials, but there are also many differences between them, so understanding the differences between them can better use them.
