Potassium Aluminum Fluoride

Oct 10, 2019

Potassium aluminum fluoride (PAF)

Molecular formula: KAlF4 Relative molecular mass: 142.08

The PAF bonds the abrasive to the surface of the abrasive to act as a binder. The material used for the binder must have sufficient bond strength to prevent the abrasive from falling off or damage the surface of the workpiece; and at the same time have sufficient toughness to be lower than the axial and radial forces generated during the grinding process. In addition, the PAF is able to quickly derive the heat generated on the workpiece to keep the workpiece cool and cool, thereby preventing oxidation; and the chemical contact of the PAF with the surface of the workpiece also enhances the abrasive performance of the process.

PAF is mainly used for resin-bonded abrasives, especially for bonded abrasives of phenolic resin materials. Among them, the binder includes a series of bonding components: resin, cryolite, PAF and pyrite. Cryolite and PAF keep the ground surface cool and prevent oxidation of the surface.

Product Usage

Mainly used as raw material for producing aluminum-magnesium casting boron-containing alloy; deoxidizer and flux in aluminum alloy manufacturing process; flux, flux for aluminum, aluminum alloy, stainless steel; popular material for abrasive; used in glass and ceramic industry .
