Centerless grinding, is a type of grinding process. There are two grinding wheels, a guide wheel and a grinding wheel. The guide wheel drives the cylindrical workpiece to rotate on the pad, and the grinding wheel grinds the workpiece.
The centerless grinding wheel is a grinding wheel installed on the centerless grinding machine. It interacts with the guide wheel and the support plate to form a grinding method. The workpiece to be processed is supported by the support plate, and the guide wheel moves in a circular motion toward the support plate, driving the workpiece to rotate and then the workpiece is ground by the centerless grinding wheel. When grinding the workpiece, the surface quality is high and the precision is relatively high. In grinding, the selection of grinding wheel grain size is also very important. Coarse-grained centerless grinding wheels are often used for rough grinding, that is, they can only process workpieces with low requirements. Generally, in order to speed up the grinding speed during processing, this method is used for the first processing of workpieces with large processing volume. This is due to its relatively fast processing speed, but the finish of the workpiece is low. On the contrary, the quality and precision of workpieces processed by fine-grained centerless grinding wheels are slightly slower, but the workpieces processed have high finish. If the selected grain size is appropriate, a mirror effect can be achieved. Therefore, the selection of centerless grinding wheels should be based on the technical and process requirements of the workpiece, including the hardness, density and grain size of the grinding wheel.

Centerless grinding method:
1. Fixed grinding wheel frame centerless cylindrical grinder. The grinding wheel frame of this type of centerless grinder is fixed on the machine body. The guide wheel and the bracket can be adjusted and moved relative to each other. During through grinding or cut-in grinding, the guide wheel, bracket and workpiece make feed and compensation movements together.
2. Mobile grinding wheel frame centerless cylindrical grinder. The bracket of this type of centerless grinder is fixed on the machine body. The grinding wheel frame and the guide wheel frame can make adjustment movements relative to the bracket, and can make feed movements under special circumstances. Most of the grinding wheels and guide wheel spindles of this type of centerless grinder adopt a double-bearing structure.
3. Inclined centerless cylindrical grinder. The center line of the grinding wheel and guide wheel of this type is inclined at an angle α to the horizontal plane. The bracket is fixed on the bed, and the grinding wheel and guide wheel spindles are double-bearing structures. The guide wheel frame can make adjustment movements relative to the bracket, and the grinding wheel frame makes feed compensation movements.
