Green silicon carbide grinding wheel is made of green silicon carbide. The manufacturing method of green silicon carbide grinding wheel is the same as that of black silicon carbide grinding wheel, but it has relatively higher requirement for the purity of raw materials. The SiC content of green silicon carbide is higher than that of black silicon carbide. In addition, the physical properties of green silicon carbide are similar to that of black silicon carbide, but it is a litter bit more brittle than black silicon carbide.

The general principle for selecting the hardness of green silicon carbide grinding wheels is:
When processing soft metals, in order to prevent the abrasive from falling off prematurely, a hard wheel should be selected. When processing hard metals, in order to make the blunt surface abrasive fall off in time and expose new abrasives with sharp edges (i.e. self-abrasives), a soft grinding wheel should be selected. The former is because when grinding soft materials, the working abrasive of the green silicon carbide grinding wheel wears slowly and does not need to fall off prematurely; the latter is because when grinding hard materials, the working abrasive of the green silicon carbide grinding wheel wears faster and needs to be updated quickly. In precision grinding, in order to ensure grinding accuracy and roughness, a slightly harder grinding wheel should be selected. The workpiece material has poor thermal conductivity and is prone to burns and cracks (such as grinding cemented carbide, etc.), so the choice of green silicon carbide grinding wheel should be soft.

Raw material selection and proportioning

The first step in making green silicon carbide grinding wheels is to select appropriate raw materials, screen and proportion them. These raw materials mainly include silicon carbide, white bauxite, aluminum oxide, etc. These raw materials should maintain a certain quality and chemical composition to ensure that the grinding wheel has a certain hardness and strength.

 

Mixing of raw materials

After selecting the raw materials, they need to be mixed. The mixing of raw materials is an important step to ensure the uniformity and quality of the grinding wheel. During the mixing process, the addition of water and mixing time should be strictly controlled, and auxiliary materials such as binders can be added.

 

Forming

The green silicon carbide grinding wheel is usually formed by pressing. After adding a proper amount of lubricant and binder to the mixed material, the material is placed on a press for pressing. Sintering

Grinding wheels should be placed upright on a wooden shelf, and should not be stacked too high, preferably 1.5 meters, so that they are not crushed or collapsed, and are easy to move, so that they will not fall out of your hands and injure people or damage the grinding wheel.
