Alumina Ceramic Nozzle

In sandblasting, ceramic nozzles are used to direct a high rate of abrasive media (such as sand or steel balls) at the surface of a workpiece to remove coatings, rust, or contaminants. Sandblasting and dispersion nozzles are made of alumina ceramics or composites consisting of alumina and chromium oxide that have very high hardness and wear resistance.

The materials for making sandblasting nozzles are cast iron, steel, cemented carbide and alumina ceramic. Cast iron and steel sandblasting nozzles are simple to manufacture, it is low cost but very low life, and they are not suitable for large-scale operations. Generally speaking, under the same conditions, the life time of metal sandblasting nozzle is not as good as that of cemented carbide sandblasting nozzle, and the life of cemented carbide sandblasting nozzle is not as good as that of alumina ceramic nozzle.

Alumina ceramic nozzle is one of the ideal abrasion resistant blasting nozzle used in various application, thanks to the super high hardness, excellent fracture toughness, the life time is much longer than that of metal and cemented carbide.
