Why Is White Fused Alumina Abrasive Widely Used? How Can We Solve The Problem Of Cracks Appearing?

Dec 05, 2025

White fused alumina abrasives are classified into graded grit, graded grit, fine powder, and micro powder. Fine grade white fused alumina can be used for polishing and grinding, and it is the most widely used type of white fused alumina abrasive in the industry.

The reason why white fused alumina abrasive has a wide range of uses

1. Due to its high temperature resistance, corrosion resistance, and high strength, white fused alumina is used in steel casting sliding nozzles, and as linings for blast furnaces in the smelting of rare and precious metals, special alloys, ceramics, and ironmaking.

2. Due to its high hardness, good wear resistance, and high strength, it is used in chemical systems for various reactor vessels and pipelines, and as components of chemical pumps.

3. White fused alumina insulation materials, such as lightweight corundum bricks, hollow corundum spheres, and fiber products, are widely used in the walls and roofs of various high-temperature furnaces and kilns, providing both high-temperature resistance and insulation.

How to deal with cracks in white fused alumina:

1. Lower the pouring temperature and speed; lower temperatures can reduce shrinkage and wear of the alumina crucible.

2. Place chills at hot spots; after pouring, add a heating agent to the riser of the corundum crucible.

3. Strengthen deoxidation measures during the smelting process.

4. Improve the properties of the alumina hollow spherical bricks to achieve better density and more uniform chemical composition.
