Tabular alumina has extremely high heat resistance, mechanical strength and wear resistance. It has high chemical purity, excellent insulation properties and good acid and alkali corrosion resistance.
Tabular alumina is the preferred aggregate for amorphous and shaped high-performance refractory materials, and is widely used in steel, casting, petrochemical, ceramics and incineration industries. Other application areas include electrical insulators, kiln tools and catalyst carriers. Finely ground tabular alumina powder is an excellent product used as filler for epoxy resin or resin system, which can obtain the desired high insulation strength, thermal conductivity and wear resistance.
Properties of tabular alumina：
1. Bulk density. The bulk density of tabular alumina refers to the weight of the material per unit volume in its natural state. Usually, tabular alumina with a small bulk density is more conducive to dissolution in electrolytes.
2. Particle size. The particle size of tabular alumina refers to its coarseness and fineness. The particle size of tabular alumina must be appropriate. If it is too coarse, it will dissolve slowly in the electrolyte and even precipitate; if it is too fine, it will easily fly away and be lost.
3. Specific surface area. The specific surface area of plate-like corundum refers to the total surface area of the material per unit weight, which is the sum of the surface area of the outer surface and the surface area of the inner pores. It is an important indicator of the activity of a material. Plate-like corundum with a large specific surface area has good solubility in electrolytes and high activity, but is easy to absorb moisture.
4. Wear coefficient. The so-called wear coefficient is the percentage change in the particle size content of the sample after the plate-shaped corundum is rubbed on a fluidized bed under controlled conditions. The wear coefficient is a physical indicator that characterizes the strength of the plate-shaped corundum.
