White aluminum oxide grinding wheels are made from industrial alumina powder, smelted in an electric arc furnace. The main mineral component, a-ALO, is greater than 98%. Its hardness is similar to that of brown corundum, but its toughness is lower. Its cutting performance is higher than that of brown corundum.
Reasons why white aluminum oxide grinding wheel turns red:
1. Firing atmosphere system
The atmosphere in the kiln refers to the composition of the gas components in the kiln and the oxidation and reduction capabilities of the white aluminum oxide grinding wheel. It is divided into three types according to its gas composition: oxidizing atmosphere, reducing atmosphere and neutral atmosphere.
Practice has shown that oxidizing atmosphere is one of the main reasons for the reddening of white aluminum oxide grinding tools. Therefore, under the premise of ensuring the quality of raw materials, appropriately enhancing the reducing atmosphere during firing can reduce the occurrence of reddening of grinding tools.
2. Raw Material Quality
White aluminum oxide abrasive and binder are the main components of grinding wheel manufacturing. The formation of the binder mineral and the smelting of the abrasive are accompanied by the production of a large number of iron compounds.
The processing of white aluminum oxide primarily utilizes iron machinery, which inevitably introduces some mechanical iron. Although magnetic separation and other processes are used to treat this, any negligence can cause immeasurable damage to the abrasive manufacturing process and is a major factor in the reddening of white aluminum oxide grinding wheels.
3. Production Process
The cleaning of iron tools and molds used in the production process, as well as some iron-containing dust, can also cause the white aluminum oxide grinding wheel to turn red.
Precautions for Use:
Grinding machines are one of the most commonly used machines in machinery factories. Whether they are properly installed and meet safety requirements, and whether they are used correctly and in accordance with safe operating procedures, are all directly related to the personal safety of every employee. Therefore, they must be given due attention during actual use.
