Green silicon carbide is made of petroleum coke and high-quality silica as raw materials, with salt as an additive, and is smelted at high temperature in a resistance furnace. The hardness of the smelted green silicon carbide crystals is between corundum and diamond, and its mechanical strength is higher than that of corundum.
Green silicon carbide side grinding problem:
In the daily use of green silicon carbide grinding machines, we often find that some operators use the side of the grinding wheel for grinding at will, regardless of the type of grinding machine or grinding wheel. This is a serious violation of the safety operating procedures.
According to the regulations, grinding wheels with a circular surface as the working surface should not be ground on the side. This type of grinding wheel has a large radial strength and a small axial strength. If the operator uses too much force, it will cause the grinding wheel to break and even hurt people. This behavior should be prohibited in actual use.
Advantages of green silicon carbide grinding wheels:
Good thermal conductivity, suitable for grinding workpieces that are easily deformed by heat, similar to single crystal corundum grinding wheels, but with different performance, sharp abrasive grains, high hardness, can grind hard alloys, optical glass, ceramics, alloys and other hard and brittle materials. It is relatively brittle, so it is difficult to maintain edges and corners, and is not suitable for processing workpieces with high toughness. Because green silicon carbide itself is sharp, grinding wheels made of green silicon carbide can also be used to process gemstones and other products.
Green silicon carbide is suitable for grinding hard alloys and hard and brittle metals and non-metallic materials, such as copper, brass, aluminum and magnesium and other non-ferrous metals and gemstones, optical glass, ceramics and other non-metallic materials.
