What Are The Reasons For The Breakage Of Cutting Discs?

Jun 03, 2025

We often find that the cutting discs are broken during the production process. What is the reason? How to solve this problem?

1. Human factors:

Improper operation: For example, the linear speed of the cutting wheel is only 72m/s, but the operator installs it on a machine with a linear speed of 80m/s or does not check whether its aperture matches the cutting table axis, resulting in greater stress during assembly.

The cutting disc has been severely collided or polished. Although it looks relatively intact on the surface, its internal structure has been damaged. Such a cutting wheel is also more likely to break during operation.

2. The cutting disc itself has quality problems:

When the cutting wheel is uneven, the stress will accumulate in the weak parts of the tissue due to factors such as torque, thermal stress, and vibration during the cutting process, leading to rupture.

When the cutting disc resin lacks toughness, the grinding wheel is always in a negative pressure state during the cutting process, which inevitably generates lateral stress. When the lateral force cannot be resisted, the grinding wheel will rupture.

When the flatness of the cutting wheel is poor, the cutting surface is curved. As the cutting depth increases, the lateral stress on the cutting disc increases. Multiple back and forth movements will cause cracks on the grinding wheel, resulting in a "soft disc". If it continues to be used, it will break.

When the hardness of the cutting disc is high, the radial torque force it receives will increase. Since its thickness is usually thin, it will cause the cutting wheel to break. Therefore, no matter what kind of cutting wheel it is, it is dangerous. Therefore, when choosing, we must put safety first. Whether it is for our own use or for workers, we must be responsible for ourselves and others.
