Sandblasting abrasives such as garnet sand are consumables in the sandblasting process, just like the oil used in automobiles. Although it does not cost too much at one time, it must be used. Therefore, although it is a low-value product, it has a great impact on the cost of sandblasting due to the large amount of use. So how can we save abrasives in the usual sandblasting work?

Of course, these are all based on the high-quality sandblasting machine you buy. The six factors we are talking about are: separator, dust collector, abrasive recovery device, spray gun, sand pipe, and pressure. Below we come to a detailed analysis.
1. Splitter
Separator is the most important part to save abrasives. There are two kinds of separators, one is pneumatic sorting method and the other is mechanical sorting method. General sandblasting machines use pneumatic sorting method. Before purchasing a sandblasting machine, it is best for the user to accurately inform the manufacturer of the type and particle size of the abrasive before the process is determined, so that the sandblasting machine can be designed more precisely. The air closing valve at the lower part of the separator should be adjusted at one time before use.
2. Dust collector
The air volume of the dust collector directly leads to the loss of abrasives. Before the sandblasting machine is used, adjust the dust collector damper to the best position and lock it. Clean the filter cartridge inside the dust collector on time, and pour out the waste sand in the dust collector air bucket on time.
3. Abrasive recovery device
There are two types of abrasive recovery devices, one is pneumatic recovery and the other is mechanical recovery. It is recommended to use pneumatic recovery when non-metallic abrasives are used in the sandblasting machine, and both can be used when metal abrasives are used. Because when non-metals are mechanically recycled, the abrasive is easily scraped by the spiral, resulting in waste. Garnet is a non-metallic abrasive, so use pneumatic recovery when using it for sandblasting and rust removal.
4. Spray gun
The influence of the spray gun is mainly due to its wear. If the spray gun is seriously worn, the consumption of sand will increase greatly. Therefore, the nozzle, sand nozzle, gas nozzle, gun body and other parts of the spray gun should be regularly checked during use, replace the parts with new ones immediately.
5. Sand pipe
As for this factor, there are many people who don't quite agree with it or don't even notice it at all. In fact, the direction of the sand pipe completely controls the direction of the abrasive, so the bending of the sand pipe will affect the angle at which the abrasive is sprayed to the surface of the workpiece. We know that one of the factors affecting the blasting effect is the angle. Therefore, the sand pipe is also an important factor of influence. In order to avoid loss, the bending of the sand pipe must be reduced.
6. Pressure
The size of the pressure directly leads to the speed of efficiency, and also directly to the loss of abrasives. So if the optimum pressure is used to achieve the fastest efficiency and the smallest loss of abrasives, to know the precise data, it depends on the user's product. requirements and materials, such as aluminum product material, pre-oxidation treatment, the best pressure is about 4 kg.

Of course, the above is only a summary of theory and some staff in practice, not necessarily suitable for all industries or all sandblasting machines, because different industries have different requirements for sandblasting. Just like not all sandblasting has to be done with garnet or brown corundum.
