Steel cut wire shot are pellets cut from steel wire. According to the different steel wires used, it is divided into stainless steel cut wire shot, ordinary high carbon steel cut wire shot and low carbon steel cut wire shot. With the development of the industry and the advancement of technology, low-shell steel shot, an upgraded product of ordinary high-carbon steel cut wire shot, has appeared. So what is the difference between ordinary high-carbon steel cut wire shot and low shell steel shot? Let's see together.
1. Different preparations and properties
(1) Ordinary high carbon steel cut wire shot: It is a kind of steel cut wire shot. Steel wire cut pellets refer to the particles cut by steel wire. The cleaved particles are unpassivated (cylindrical) and passivated (circular). Wire cut shot is made of selected raw material scrap, adding rare metals and alloying in appropriate proportions. The preparation process is melted in an electric furnace, converted into steel pellets with modern equipment, and undergoes multiple electric heating treatments and automatic screening. In the process of forming steel pellets from liquid metal, its chemical composition and particle size are usually strictly controlled to ensure that its mechanical properties meet various uses.
(2) Low-shell steel shot: It is an upgrade of the commonly used low-carbon steel shot. It is a steel ball made of low-carbon alloy steel. It is formed by refining molten steel in an electric arc furnace and adding various alloying elements. After two heat treatments, a metallographic structure with more impact resistance and higher hardness is formed, which becomes a clean abrasive with a long life. The internal structure of low shell steel shot is compact, not easy to be broken, uniform in particle size distribution, suitable in hardness, strong in impact resistance and long in service life.

2. Different craftsmanship
(1) Steel shot materials are different. The material of low shell steel shot is more elegant. Using electric arc furnace smelting, reducing brittleness by decarburization, desulfurization, dephosphorization and improving the plasticity and impact toughness of steel shot, by adding Cr, Cu and other elements, significantly improving the strength, hardness and wear resistance of steel shot, by adding Mo, Al and other elements can refine the grain, improve the compactness of the microstructure of the steel shot, improve the impact performance, purify the molten steel through slag making and slag removal, and reduce the impurity content in the molten steel, so as to obtain better materials.
(2) The texture and hardness of abrasives are different. The low shell steel shot adopts a unique isothermal secondary quenching and low temperature tempering process, and controls the quenching medium and temperature, so that the steel shot can obtain a bainitic martensite complex structure with more impact resistance. Low shell steel shot is a multiphase structure, and its structure is very dense. When the steel shot hits the casting during the throwing process, the internal force is uniform and there will be no stress concentration. Therefore, compared with ordinary high carbon steel cut wire shot, the frequency of use of low shell steel shot is greatly increased.
(3) The degree of wear resistance is different. During shot blasting, the abrasive is a gradual wear process. During repeated impacts, the abrasive deforms once per impact, and the surface sheds a layer. In use, the abrasive will become smaller and smaller, and will be sucked up by the vacuum cleaner after reaching a certain level. The process of reducing the size of good abrasives is very slow, and the process of reducing the size of inferior abrasives is very fast. Because the low-shell steel shot is made of low-carbon alloy steel and has undergone heat treatment, it is less likely to be broken and less worn than ordinary high-carbon steel cut wire shot in use.
