How Many Common Cutting Discs Do You Know?

Jun 06, 2025

1. Silicon carbide cutting wheel:

Silicon carbide cutting wheels have a high hardness and are generally used to cut hard materials such as tool steel, manganese steel, etc. In addition, its fine grain structure provides better cutting characteristics and has good heat resistance and corrosion resistance. However, silicon carbide cutting discs are susceptible to bending and breaking and require periodic cleaning and polishing.

2. Diamond cutting wheel:

Diamond is one of the hardest natural materials at present, with a hardness of more than 10. Therefore, diamond cutting discs can cut all materials with lower hardness than it, such as steel, copper and aluminum. In addition, diamond has excellent thermal and electrical conductivity, anti-corrosion, good stability, etc., but the price is relatively expensive.

3. Aluminum oxide cutting wheel:

Aluminum oxide cutting disc is one of the materials with high hardness, high strength and good wear resistance. It is suitable for cutting low hardness metal materials such as nickel, manganese, and light metal products. It also has good insulation, thermal conductivity and corrosion resistance.

4. Stainless steel cutting wheel:

Stainless steel is one of the most common and economical cutting disc materials. It has a smooth surface and can cut most conventional metal materials. It also maintains good stability over long-term use. However, the hardness of stainless steel is relatively low, and it is easy to get scratches and damage during the cutting process.
