Classification And Application Of Abrasive Cutting Wheels

Feb 06, 2026

With the development of the machinery industry, more and more mechanical products require processing, and grinding wheels are an indispensable part of this industry.

Cutting wheels are important components of grinding wheels, mainly divided into fiber resin cutting wheels and diamond cutting wheels based on their material. Different materials result in different performance characteristics.

1. Resin cutting wheel

It uses resin as a binder and fiberglass mesh as a framework, combining various materials, and exhibits particularly outstanding cutting performance for difficult-to-cut materials such as alloy steel and stainless steel. Employing both dry and wet cutting methods ensures more stable cutting accuracy. Furthermore, the selection of the cutting blade's material and hardness significantly improves cutting efficiency and reduces production costs.

2. Diamond cutting wheel

Widely used in the processing of hard and brittle materials such as stone, concrete, precast slabs, new and old roads, and ceramics.

A diamond cutting wheel mainly consists of two parts: the substrate and the cutting head.

The substrate is the main supporting part that bonds the cutting head, while the cutting head is the part that cuts during use. The cutting head is continuously worn down during use, while the substrate is not. The cutting head can cut because it contains diamond, the hardest substance currently known, which is encased in metal and used to cut the workpiece through friction.

For a grinding wheel to be put into proper working use, the role of its components should not be underestimated. In daily life, you can choose the cutting wheel according to the actual situation, and pay attention to safety during operation, wearing protective equipment.
