What Are The Polishing Methods For Green Silicon Carbide?

Dec 12, 2024

Chemical polishing:
Chemical polishing is to make the microscopic protruding parts of the material surface in the chemical medium dissolve preferentially over the concave parts to obtain a smooth surface. The advantage of this method is that it does not require complex equipment and can polish any complex-shaped workpiece. The core issue of chemical polishing is the preparation of the polishing liquid.

Electrolytic polishing:
The basic principle of electrolytic polishing is the same as that of chemical polishing, which selectively dissolves the tiny protruding parts of the material surface. Compared with chemical polishing, it can eliminate the influence of cathode reaction. The electrochemical polishing process is divided into macroscopic leveling and microscopic leveling.

Fluid polishing:
Fluid polishing relies on high-speed flowing liquid and the abrasive particles it carries to flush the surface of the workpiece to achieve the purpose of polishing. Common methods include: diamond abrasive jet processing of green silicon carbide, liquid jet processing, fluid dynamic grinding, etc. Fluid dynamic grinding is driven by hydraulic pressure, so that the liquid medium carrying abrasive particles flows back and forth at high speed through the sandblasting gun over the workpiece surface.

Mechanical polishing:
Mechanical polishing is a polishing method that relies on plastic deformation of the surface of the cutting material to remove the convex part after polishing to obtain a smooth surface. Generally, oil stone strips, wool wheels, sandpaper, etc. are used. The polishing disc is mainly operated manually. For example, auxiliary tools such as turntables can be used on the surface of rotating bodies. If the surface quality requirements are high, the method of fine grinding and polishing can be used.

Magnetic grinding and polishing:
Magnetic grinding and polishing is to use magnetic green silicon carbide to form green silicon carbide brushes under the action of magnetic field, and the polishing disc is used to grind the workpiece. This method has high processing efficiency and easy to control processing conditions.
