What Are The Cutting Disc Processing Technologies?

Jul 10, 2025

The cutting disc is used for cutting stainless steel tubes, capillaries, glass tubes, quartz tubes, automobile exhaust pipes, brake lines, tungsten wires, molybdenum wires, copper wires, and other pipes and filaments. It has a good effect on cutting special steels and grooving workpieces.

Three major processing technologies for cutting discs

1. Cold Pressing Process

The binders used include wetting agents and powdered resins. Liquid phenolic resins, furfural, furfuryl alcohol, cresol, etc. are commonly used as wetting agents. Liquid phenolic resins are the most commonly used.

2. Semi-hot pressing process

The pressing temperature is generally 50-65℃. At this pressing temperature, the viscosity of the liquid resin decreases, which can well integrate the powdered resin, improve the fluidity of the entire resin system, and make it easier to fully penetrate various spaces. Even if the pressure of the press is not too high, the cutting disc can be well formed, and it does not need to be too long, which is particularly suitable for continuous operation of the automated pressing production line.

3. Hot Pressing Process

The mixing requirements are different from the cold pressing process. Generally, the dry mixing method is used or the furfural less than 1% of the abrasive weight is used as a wetting agent to wet the abrasive and then mix it evenly with the powdered resin.

Special attention

When the cutting disc is working, you should stand to the side of it and not operate it from the front, so as to avoid the cutting disc flying out or breaking and injuring people in case of failure. After all, it is working under high-speed rotation. Be sure to wear gloves, goggles and other protective props!
