1. Different substrates
Sandpaper is made by bonding abrasives to paper substrates with adhesives, such as kraft paper, latex paper, and water-resistant paper; abrasive cloth rolls are made by bonding abrasives to cloth substrates.
2. Different application scopes
Abrasive cloth rolls are mainly used for rough processing of metals and wood products, and are mainly processed into sanding belts for use with sanding belt machines; sandpaper is mainly used for medium grinding and fine polishing of metals, wood products, paint surfaces, and composite materials, and various forms such as handheld sheet-type, velvet-backed adhesive disc sand, and sandpaper belts are suitable.
3. Different particle sizes
Comparatively speaking, the abrasive particle size of sandpaper is finer, and the polishing effect is more delicate; the abrasive particle size of abrasive cloth rolls is relatively coarse, and the polishing effect is relatively rough, but the polishing speed is fast and the efficiency is high, but the polishing accuracy is relatively low.
4. Different prices
For products of the same specifications and models, the price of ordinary sandpaper is usually cheaper than that of sandpaper, but the price of high-end sandpaper is much more expensive than that of abrasive cloth rolls. In addition, sandpaper is more common when purchased in hardware stores, while abrasive cloth rolls are relatively rare.
In fact, abrasive cloth rolls and sandpaper each have their own advantages:
1. The advantages of abrasive cloth rolls are that they are durable, not easy to lose sand, and can be folded and not broken; the disadvantages are that the price is relatively expensive, not easy to buy, and the particle size is relatively large.
2. The advantages of sandpaper are that the price is relatively cheap, there are more types and models, and the grinding is more delicate; the disadvantage is that it is not as durable as sandpaper and is easy to lose sand.
abrasive cloth rolls and sandpaper each have their own advantages and disadvantages. We can choose according to the material of the workpiece and the grinding requirements. It is usually recommended to use abrasive cloth rolls for coarse grinding and sandpaper for fine grinding.
