Consequences Of Resinoid Grinding Wheel Clogging

Aug 30, 2024

There are many types of grinding wheels. No matter which type of grinding wheel, there will be a unique clogging phenomenon. This is a very common phenomenon. Have you ever learned about the process and consequences of grinding wheel clogging in detail? Today, we will learn about the causes of grinding wheel clogging with resinoid grinding wheels, so as to reduce the degree of grinding wheel clogging, thereby reducing grinding wheel clogging, saving grinding wheel resources, and improving utilization. So what is the cause of clogging during the grinding process of the grinding wheel? The following is a brief explanation based on my personal experience in production and processing.

In fact, during the grinding process of the resin grinding wheel, when the abrasive grains on the surface of the resinoid grinding wheel, that is, the abrasive, rub against the workpiece, they will become passivated due to the extremely harsh environment, high temperature, high pressure, and centrifugal force. No matter how hard the abrasive grinding wheel is, such as a diamond grinding wheel used to grind diamonds, it will also become blunt and lose its sharpness. The grinding chips on the abrasive grains that are reversely ground by the workpiece will fall on the surface of the resin grinding wheel, dissolve at high temperatures, and then bond to the pores of the resinoid grinding wheel, thereby filling the pores and concave surfaces of the resin grinding wheel, which is equivalent to filling the resinoid grinding wheel and making the abrasive grains of the resin grinding wheel lose their sharpness. After losing its sharpness and passivation, the resinoid grinding wheel will experience a significant increase in grinding force and an increase in grinding temperature, which can easily burn the surface of the workpiece. Sometimes vibration will also occur, which seriously affects the processing effect of the resin grinding wheel, such as distorting the geometric shape of the workpiece and reducing the processing accuracy. In addition, the binder of the resinoid grinding wheel may also cause the abrasive grains of the resin grinding wheel to fall off, causing the pores of the resinoid grinding wheel to be blocked, thus affecting the grinding effect of the resin grinding wheel.
