Resinoid Grinding Wheel - The Wear of The Grinding Wheel is Related to The Material Being Processed

Oct 12, 2022

Resinoid grinding wheel is a big family among many grinding wheels. There are many types of resinoid grinding wheels, and they are used in many places, and the amount of use is very large. The functions of the resinoid grinding wheel include grinding, cutting, grooving, etc. The more common one is the grinding of the appearance of the workpiece to improve the appearance quality of the workpiece or the standardization of the use and cooperation.

Regardless of the type of grinding wheel product, wear will occur with long-term use. After years of practice summary, we found that the wear forms of grinding wheels mainly include the following:

1. Wear and tear type. When the abrasive grains are severely worn and worn, the surface of the grinding wheel is flat and smooth after the obvious wear plane appears on the top surface of the abrasive grains. At this time, the total wear area of the cutting edge increases, the friction intensifies, and it is difficult for the cutting edge to cut into the surface of the workpiece. However, the hardness of the grinding wheel is too high, so that the abrasive particles cannot be broken and fallen off in time. If you continue to use it, the grinding force and grinding heat will increase significantly, and there will be obvious vibration and noise, and the material cannot be removed effectively. At this time, the grinding wheel must be dressed.

2. Wheel plugging type. During grinding, a large amount of chips adhere to the surface of the grinding wheel, which is called grinding wheel clogging. There are two types: one is intrusive blockage, that is, the chips drill into the gaps on the surface of the grinding wheel, and this form of blockage is prone to occur when grinding steel. One is adhesion-type plugging, in which the chips are fused on the surface of the abrasive grains and the bond, covering the cutting edge of the abrasive grains. This stick-type plugging occurs when grinding non-ferrous metals such as titanium alloys, copper alloys, magnesium alloys and other materials with good ductility and low melting point. When the grinding wheel is blocked to a certain extent, its cutting ability is obviously reduced, and it is prone to obvious vibration and noise, and even burns.

3. Shedding type. Falling off easily occurs when the hardness of the grinding wheel is too soft, that is, when the hardness of the grinding wheel is too low or the grinding conditions are too heavy, the self-sharpening effect is very strong, so that the grinding wheel loses its normal geometry, so that the grinding wheel cannot work normally. At this time, the grinding wheel can still continue to work, but the geometric accuracy and roughness of the grinding wheel surface have been lost, so the necessary dressing must be carried out.

Resinoid grinding wheels also have these wear conditions in use. We all need to find out in time and replace the new grinding wheels in time to avoid affecting the production. At the same time, the old grinding wheels should be trimmed in time for those that can be trimmed to avoid waste.
