What Is Waterproof Sandpaper?
Waterproof sandpaper is also called water sandpaper, water-resistant sandpaper, which is sandpaper that can be polished with water. The sand material of water sandpaper is generally silicon carbide, and the paper base is usually kraft paper. There are also relatively high-end ones, such as 3M water sandpaper, and many of the paper bases are latex paper. The characteristics of latex paper are good flexibility, and the surface adhesion of sand grains is stronger, so the sandpaper is more durable, the particles are more uniform, and the polishing effect is better.
The gaps between the sand grains of waterproof sandpaper are smaller than those of dry sandpaper, and the debris of the ground objects is also smaller. Dry Sandpaper
Dry sandpaper is divided into red sandpaper and white sandpaper, the difference is that the former is not treated with anti-blocking coating. Waterproof sandpaper grinds slower but produces smoother results (the finer the water sandpaper, the slower it grinds and the smoother it produces, and it is often used for oil grinding of high-gloss products); dry sandpaper grinds faster but produces rougher results (the coarser the dry sandpaper, the faster it grinds and the rougher it produces, and the 400-800 grit sandpaper is usually used for white wood grinding, and the 400-800 grit sandpaper is often used for oil grinding).
Waterproof sandpaper is usually used for grinding under water conditions, so there is less dust and better working conditions.
