In terms of color, vitrified grinding wheels are generally blue, white, red, green, black, etc. depending on the material, while resinoid grinding wheels are generally dark brown.
In terms of smell, vitrified grinding wheels are generally odorless, while resinoid grinding wheels have a tartaric acid odor of resin.
In terms of sound, vitrified grinding wheels generally make a crisp sound when struck, while resinoid grinding wheels make a dull and low sound.
The difference between resinoid grinding wheels and vitrified grinding wheels is the bonding agent of the grinding wheels. In terms of the nature of the bonding agent, ceramic bonding agent is an inorganic bonding agent, while resin bonding agent is an organic bonding agent.
Therefore, the properties and uses of vitrified grinding wheels and resinoid grinding wheels are different:
1. Vitrified grinding wheel: Because its binder is ceramic, its chemical composition is stable, heat-resistant, water-resistant, strong, but brittle. This type of grinding wheel is selected in most cases. For example, external cylindrical grinders and surface grinders, because the grinding wheel will generate a lot of heat when working, it is better to flush it with water for cooling.
2. Resinoid grinding wheel: Resin is an organic binder, so it has higher elasticity and strength. But its firmness, heat resistance and corrosion resistance are poor.
When the grinding wheel is used for end face grinding, a resinoid grinding wheel is selected; when cutting materials, a thin resin bonded grinding wheel can be selected; when the grinding wheel speed is high, a resin bonded grinding wheel is selected. The differences are as follows:
⑴ Different hardness.
① Black has the lowest hardness, blue has the highest hardness, and green is between the two.
② If the same adhesive is used, different abrasives will have different colors.
③ The color of white aluminum oxide abrasive is white, the color of brown aluminum oxide abrasive is brown-gray, and the color of pink fused alumina abrasive is dark red.
⑵ Under the same grinding conditions, different binders will have different colors.
① For the same white fused alumina abrasive, the color of the ceramic binder is white,
② The color of the resin binder is gray-brown.
⑶ Different classifications according to different adhesives.
