What Causes Sand Marks To Appear During Sanding?

Sep 26, 2023

Many polishers will find obvious sand marks on the surface of the product during polishing with flocked sandpaper. There are many reasons for the sand marks. Let's summarize them below.

1. The first obvious reason is that too coarse sandpaper is used for polishing. Coarse sandpaper will easily leave sand marks. If finer sandpaper is used for polishing, the surface of the product will be smoother and more delicate.

2. When polishing wooden products such as furniture, sand marks will also appear if you polish against the wood grain.

3. In addition, when the paint film is not dry, the dry solvent used for polishing and drying is slow, resulting in the paint film not being able to dry in a fixed time, the upper paint film being too thin, not being completely cleaned after polishing, and the paint not being able to penetrate, and sandpaper not being used. Traces of movement will be caused by paint powder remaining on the surface and no sanding function in certain parts.
