In What Occasions Are High-power Cutting Discs Used?

May 22, 2026

Cutting discs are familiar to everyone. They are very common in production and life, and are generally used in handheld or profile cutting machines. However, there are some workpieces that cannot be cut by ordinary cutting discs, and high-power cutting machines (usually with a power greater than 5.5KW and a speed of 2800 rpm) are required, and they are equipped with high-power cutting discs.

In what occasions are high-power cutting discs used?

1) The workpiece to be cut is a casting with a large diameter or a special shape.

Most of the scenarios where high-power cutting machines are used are for high production efficiency. Therefore, the torque force during grinding wheel cutting is large, and the damage to the cutting blade is also relatively large, so the cutting blade is required to have a certain rigidity.

2) Cutting high-hardness and high-viscosity materials such as cast steel, carbon steel, high-carbon steel, stainless steel risers, and alloy steel.

The temperature generated on the cutting surface will be very high during cutting, so the grinding wheel itself needs to be sharp.

3) Especially suitable for the precision casting industry.

The thickness of high-power cutting blades is generally large, and the thickness of the grinding wheel is generally above 3.4mm. The size of our casting cutting blade is 400*3*32mm, the double mesh is rigid, strong in impact resistance, double-layer reinforced mesh cloth, high-speed cutting does not burst, the cutting surface does not blacken, and does not burn the workpiece.

When using casting cutting discs, it is necessary to select appropriate cutting discs according to different casting materials and cutting requirements. At the same time, in order to maintain the sharpness and durability of the cutting disc, it is necessary to replace the cutting disc regularly and ensure that it is not overloaded or overheated during use.
