The oxidation of metal powder in the natural environment is an important factor that causes the quality of diamond cutter head to be unstable. Although the metal powder reduction process has been adopted now, the elemental metal powder is usually reduced before mixing. The reduced powder has to go through follow-up processes such as mixing, cold pressing, molding, hot pressing, etc. Due to the huge surface area of the powder, there is secondary oxidation of the powder in the follow-up process. In hot and humid areas, this secondary oxidation brings consequences are particularly evident.
We can think that: the reduction before the hot pressing process is the most thorough reduction, and it is very necessary; the higher the degree of pre-alloying of the powder before hot pressing and sintering, the better, it is also very necessary.
In order to solve the above two problems, we adopted the high-temperature reduction process of the cold-pressed cutter head.
After high-temperature reduction of the cutter head, the performance is quite stable. Sampling sawing follow-up tests have been done for more than 5 consecutive months, and the performance of each batch of saw blades with the same ingredients is very stable, with almost no difference.
The cutter head with small adjustments to the ingredients can see a significant difference in the sawing test. This is because after all the influencing factors are excluded, if the formula is adjusted a little, the performance of the saw blade will reflect the corresponding changes.
We have done a comparative cutting test, and the cutting blades that have undergone the post-reduction process have significantly improved both sharpness and service life than those that have not undergone the post-reduction process. The improvement rate of the comparison test reaches 30% and 55%. The results of the comparison test are: (the size of the cutter head is 40x3.2x8, the diameter of the saw blade is 350 mm, and the spindle speed is 2850 rpm). It solves the oxidation problem of metal powder. The cutter head with the same formula has unstable quality, and the main reason is powder oxidation. The post-reduction process of the cold-pressed cutter head eliminates the influence of the natural environment, so that the metal powder can be completely reduced. At the same time, it also produces the effect of pre-alloying, which is the guarantee for stabilizing and improving the quality of the product.
The wide application of high-temperature post-reduction process greatly improves the quality of metal bond diamond products.
