At present, there are two polishing methods of jadeite on the market: machine polishing and manual polishing, machine polishing is generally aimed at the general jade carvings which have general quality and it can process a large number of works in a short time. But, after all, the machine polishing is not detailed enough, and this polishing method is easy to grind away the edges and corners of the works and neglect the details.
The advantage of manual polishing is that the details and subtle crack of jade can be polished and the line and shape of the jade will not be affected. But, this polishing method is more time-consuming and expensive because it only can be polished slowly piece by piece.
The specific steps of polishing method are divided into the following 6 steps:
1, Using whetstone for rough grinding, so that quickly remove the roughness of on the surface of jade.
2, Grinding wheel is used to grind the surface of jade to make it more smooth.
3, A variety of nails coated with diamond powder can be used to grind different details of jade. And not miss any cracks.
4, Make use of sandpaper with different grain size for overall grinding. Generally, we use a coarse-grained sandpaper first, then finer-grained.
5, A brush coated with diamond powder can be used to beat the surface at high speed. Generally, the luster of the emerald appears at this step.
6, Putting the jade into ultrasonic equipment for cleaning. And details that are hard to be cleaned, we can wash it slowly with a tooth brush. Then, we need to wipe clean surface with a clean and soft cloth. Finally, a piece of exquisite jade will show in front of you.
