Product storage:
♦ Storage conditions are one of the most important factors affecting the performance of coated abrasive products. Only correct storage can maintain good grinding efficiency.
♦ The substrate and some adhesives during the manufacturing process are more sensitive to climate and will dry out or become damp depending on the relative humidity of their environment.
♦ Coated abrasives have the best performance when stored and used within the recommended temperature and humidity range. They perform best at 60 to 80 degrees Fahrenheit and 40%-50% relative humidity.
♦ When storing, make sure that all coated abrasive tools do not come into direct contact with the cement floor, away from moisture, and away from hot pipes and heat sources.

Impact of abnormal storage:
♦ Excessive moisture: This can cause the adhesive or resin to soften, as well as the filling material inside the matrix. In this way, during the grinding process, the abrasive will press against the base body rather than the workpiece to be ground, which reduces the grinding efficiency. Frictional heat will make the adhesive softer. The service life of coated abrasive tools will be reduced by 50% if stored in a relatively high humidity environment for a long time.
♦ Excessive drying: It will reduce the flexibility of the product and cause difficulty in use. Narrow sanding belts can curl or twist, and can cup (curve toward the back) when dried excessively. Paper products, especially heavy-duty paper products, will lose flexibility and become brittle if stored in an excessively dry environment for a long time. Waterproof sandpaper will also be affected by this effect.
For cloth-based abrasive belts and discs, if the moisture contained in the substrate is too high, they will bend toward the back and become unsuitable for use. Adhesive and resin-bonded sanding belts will also bend back if they are too wet. Too much drying will cause it to bend in the opposite direction.
Precautions:
In addition to ensuring the temperature conditions in which your coated abrasives are stored, you should also pay attention to the following important tips to extend the life of your unused products:
♦ Coated abrasives should be stored in closed cartons until use.
♦ Bulk rolls should be stored flat and not piled. Cartons, boxes and wrapped rolls should remain intact during use. Sanding belts should be hung and stored on special racks.
♦ Proper racking to store your coated abrasives can help you manage your warehouse.
