Quality of abrasives is key, therefore, if we want to use abrasives correctly, we need to find the right way to improve its quality, so as to the performance of the original product can be further changed, and so that abrasives can be better applied to daily life. Next, we would like to give a general introduction about the ways to improve the quality of abrasives.
The abrasives which has been broken and graded can be used in the manufacture of common abrasives, but for the manufacture of abrasives with higher quality requirements, the quality needs to be further improved. The ways to improve the quality of abrasives mainly include purity treatment and wear resistance treatment.
1) The ways to improve purity
The ways to improve purity generally include wind washing, water washing, pickling process and high temperature treatment. Small investment, high efficiency, low cost, but it can not remove ultrafine particles attached to the surface, and it is generally used to clean coarse particles. The water-washing process is relatively complex, which is obviously better than the wind-washing in improving the purity of abrasive. However, the water consumption is large, the second drying is required, and the cost is high. In general, for 220-mesh and finer abrasive materials with large impurities and high content of fine powder, wind-washing and water-washing are not applicable, so pickling process can only be used. But the water consumption of pickling process is larger and the cost of second drying is higher. High-temperature treatment is the current method to improve the purity of brown fused alumina, but the early investment is large.
2) The ways to improve wear resistance
The improvement of quality is mainly through improving the shape of abrasives, calcination and chemical coating. However, the method of improving shape is far from meeting the requirements of the production process. Due to the high cost and environmental pollution, the effect of chemical treatment is not better than that of calcination treatment.
