A resinoid grinding wheel is widely used in grinding applications because of its self-sharpening performance, grinding accuracy, and cost effectiveness. However, its actual performance and service life depend not only on manufacturing quality but also on shelf life and storage conditions. Proper quality control and scientific storage are essential to maintain grinding performance and operating safety.
01 Industrial Application Scope
A resinoid grinding wheel is commonly used for grinding and finishing various metal materials. It is suitable for applications that require good cutting ability, high grinding efficiency, and stable surface finishing.
Depending on the abrasive type, wheel specification, and bond formulation, different wheels can be selected for steel, stainless steel, cast iron, alloy materials, and other workpieces. Proper selection helps achieve consistent grinding results while reducing unnecessary wheel consumption.
02 Guarantee Period Standard
The normal guarantee period of a resinoid grinding wheel is generally 2–3 years from the date of manufacture when stored under proper conditions. This period is mainly related to the aging characteristics of the resin bond.
As the resin bond naturally ages, its bonding strength and mechanical properties may gradually change. If the wheel is stored beyond the recommended period, there may be a higher risk of reduced bond strength, unstable hardness, or even breakage during operation. Therefore, the production date and storage period should always be checked before use.
03 Scientific Storage Conditions
The storage environment has a direct effect on the performance of a resinoid grinding wheel. A clean, dry, and stable warehouse is recommended.
The ideal storage temperature is generally 10–25°C, with relative humidity maintained at approximately 45–65%. Direct sunlight, heat sources, condensation, and sudden temperature changes should be avoided. The wheels should also be kept away from acids, alkalis, corrosive gases, oil, and other substances that may affect the bond.
For long-term storage, wheels should be placed on pallets or shelves rather than directly on the floor to prevent moisture absorption and physical damage.
04 Stacking & Inventory Management Specifications
During handling and storage, each resinoid grinding wheel should be handled carefully. Dropping, striking, squeezing, or other forms of mechanical impact should be avoided.
Wheels should normally be stored horizontally on a stable and level surface. Do not place them at an angle or allow excessive pressure from other products. Improper stacking may cause deformation, edge damage, or other defects that can affect safe operation.
For inventory management, the FIFO (First In, First Out) principle should be followed. Products with earlier production dates should be used first to prevent wheels from remaining in storage for unnecessarily long periods.
05 Pre-operation Inspection Standards
Before use, each resinoid grinding wheel should be carefully inspected. Check the wheel for cracks, chips, deformation, moisture damage, or other visible defects. A wheel that has been dropped or subjected to impact should not be used without proper inspection.
The wheel should also be checked for its production date and storage condition. A good-looking surface does not necessarily mean that the wheel is safe to operate, especially when it has exceeded its recommended storage period.
Proper storage, regular inspection, and correct inventory control can help maintain the performance and safety of resin bond grinding wheels throughout their service life.
