1. Application of pink fused alumina
Pink fused alumina has high refractoriness, high strength, good thermal shock stability and strong corrosion resistance. Whether it is added to refractory raw materials to make chrome corundum bricks or chrome corundum castables, its wear resistance and corrosion resistance are particularly outstanding. It is used in metallurgy, glass, carbon black, and petrochemical industries, especially in recent years, it has achieved outstanding results in the use of garbage and hazardous waste rotary furnaces.

 

Pink fused alumina bricks or pink fused alumina castables are composed of Al2O3-Cr2O3 binary continuous solid solution, and there is no low eutectic. The refractoriness of chrome corundum bricks and chrome corundum castables is >1790℃, and the load softening temperature is also >1700℃. It is one of the high-end refractory materials. The strength, wear resistance and corrosion resistance are better than high-purity corundum, brown aluminum oxide, white aluminum oxide and other refractory castables and refractory bricks.

 

The room temperature compressive strength of high-functional chrome corundum bricks and chrome corundum castables is usually above 150MPa. During the firing process of the finished product, Al2O3-Cr2O3 solid solution is formed between particles, between particles and fine powder, and between fine powder and fine powder. The solid solution connects the particles and fine powder together, greatly increasing the strength and corrosion resistance.

 

 

2. Precautions for the use of pink fused alumina
During the production process, Cr2O3 is added to corundum. The thermal shock stability of bricks and castables will decrease with the increase of Cr2O3 content. That is, chrome corundum bricks with low Cr2O3 content have better thermal shock stability than chrome corundum bricks or castables with high Cr2O3 content. This is also a key point to note. The chromium content cannot be too high. Too high is not good for the human body. The strength of the product will also decrease.


The slag corrosion resistance of pink fused alumina bricks and pink fused alumina castables. The solubility of Cr2O3 in coal gasification furnace slag and glass melt is much smaller than that of oxides. Refractory bricks and castables containing Cr2O3 have a higher viscosity against steel slag, non-ferrous forged slag, coal gasification furnace slag, and hazardous waste slag than other low-melting materials. The matrix and internal quality can prevent the slag from penetrating into the interior along the capillary pores, and can also prevent the formation of a degradation layer and the occurrence of structural shedding. Therefore, for furnace linings with high temperatures and severe corrosion, chrome corundum series materials or bricks are often used as linings.
