What Are The Issues That Need To Be Paid Attention To During The Replacement Of Green Silicon Carbide?

Apr 11, 2025

Green silicon carbide is made of petroleum coke and high-quality silica as the main raw materials, with salt as an additive, and is smelted at high temperature in a resistance furnace. The smelted crystals have high purity and hardness, which is between corundum (white corundum, brown corundum) and diamond, and its mechanical strength is higher than that of corundum. Green silicon carbide powder is green, has a high crystal structure, and has a stronger cutting ability than black silicon carbide. It has stable chemical properties and good thermal conductivity.

Expiration date:

Any green silicon carbide has a certain expiration date. If it is used within the expiration date, it is qualified; if it is used beyond the expiration date, it may not be qualified. The regulations stipulate that "green silicon carbide should be used within the expiration date. Green silicon carbide with resin and rubber binder must be subjected to a rotation test after one year of storage. Only qualified ones can be used."

Environmental issues:

Green silicon carbide machines should generally be equipped with a dedicated machine room, and it is strictly forbidden to stack flammable and explosive items in the machine room or near the machine to avoid fire or explosion accidents. Other parts or items should not be placed randomly near the machine.

Wear problem:

Any green silicon carbide has certain wear requirements. When the wear reaches a certain level, it must be replaced with a new one. It is not allowed to use it beyond the wear requirements in order to save materials. This is an extremely unsafe violation. Generally speaking, when the green silicon carbide is worn to a diameter 10mm larger than the chuck diameter, it should be replaced with a new one.

Texture problem:
During use, if cracks are found in some parts of the green silicon carbide, stop using it immediately and replace it with a new one to avoid breakage and injury.
