What Is A Torque Sanding Disc?

Jan 14, 2026

Torque sanding discs are abrasive products made by punching abrasive cloth into a circle, hardening the back of the abrasive cloth through treatment, and attaching a shank to the back.

Torque Sanding discs can be classified according to the abrasive used:

Brown aluminum oxide Torque sanding Discs:

Utilizing alumina abrasive, these are quick-change, economical discs primarily used for deburring welds, removing dirt, and cleaning molds. Suitable for grinding aluminum alloys, minerals, metals, glass, and crystals.

Silicon Carbide Torque sanding Discs:

Silicon carbide discs effectively grind and cut metal materials. Primarily used for aircraft fuselage and engine parts, aluminum alloys, composite materials, and graphite parts.

Zirconium aluminum oxide Torque sanding Discs:

The zirconium oxide disc surface has a special coating that minimizes heat and combustion during grinding, effectively grinding various high-strength alloys such as stainless steel and alloy steel. Suitable for grinding fan/compressor components, turbines and combustion chambers, sandwich structure components, pipes, and LPT components.

Black Diamond Torque sanding Discs:

Made with special fiber-reinforced synthetic silicon carbide abrasive grains, these discs excel at grinding ultra-hard metals and other alloy surfaces. They possess excellent grinding power and wear resistance, along with good heat dissipation, making them suitable for grinding various metal welds and vehicle surfaces.

Ceramic Torque sanding Discs:

Ceramic abrasive discs have a special coating on their surface, providing excellent heat dissipation and effectively extending their service life. They are primarily used for removing marks, burrs, and repairing parts. Suitable for grinding stainless steel, nickel alloys, titanium parts, turbine blades, structural components, and complex irregularly shaped parts.

Nylon Torque sanding discs:

Nylon abrasive discs are available in different grit sizes: yellow (coarse), red (medium-coarse), blue (fine), and gray (very fine). They are commonly used for heavy-duty deburring, finishing, and blending. When grinding soft or oily materials, they exhibit clogging resistance, high cutting rate, and good flexibility.

Applications of torque sanding discs:

Used for polishing, grinding, light surface grinding, and deburring of surfaces such as stainless steel, aluminum products, furniture, and stone. It is an ideal product for surface and edge grinding.
