The flap disc, also called the emery cloth wheel, is made by pressing the cut coated abrasive blades one by one and sticking them to the back cover along the circumference of the circle. It is mainly installed on hand-held power tools for grinding and polishing welds, burrs, surface rust removal, surface polishing, etc. of various metal or non-metal parts.
Types of flap discs
According to the classification of the base body: it can be divided into plastic cover, mesh cover, iron mesh cover, mesh cover and other types.
According to the classification of particle size: it can be divided into 60#, 80#, 100#, 120#, 150#, etc. (The larger the number, the finer the surface)
According to the classification of outer diameter: it can be divided into 125, 150, 180, 230mm, etc.
Different classifications represent different use environments, uses, specifications and sizes, etc. Only by choosing the right one can the operation time be effectively shortened, the grinding cost can be saved, and the grinding efficiency can be improved.
Application of flap discs
Louver sheets play an important role in industrial production. They are widely used in automobile, ship and aviation manufacturing, jade polishing, heel polishing in shoe factories, stainless steel product manufacturing and furniture manufacturing.
Notes on flap discs
01Before use, remember to check whether the flap discs are deformed, damp or falling off. If so, please replace them. Simple identification method: tap gently with a wooden stick and listen to the sound. If it is a crisp sound, it can be used. If it makes a hoarse and dull sound, the grinding wheel has cracks and other undesirable phenomena.
02 It is strictly forbidden to knock the flap discs during installation, keep the tightness appropriate, and ensure that the angle grinder has a complete protective cover. After installation, please test it by idling for 1 minute near the ground in an unmanned location.
03 Please wear protective equipment such as glasses, masks, gloves or protective masks. If you work for a long time, it is best to wear a leather apron.
04 Try to operate it indoors, where there is no clutter. When using it, you should also pay attention and not be distracted to avoid accidents. If you use it outdoors, try to choose a quiet environment.
05 Keep the flaps at about 15 degrees to the workpiece surface during grinding. If the angle is too flat, too many blade particles will immediately connect to the metal, causing the flaps to wear faster. If the angle is too high, the flap discs cannot be fully used. This will cause part of the flap disc to be over-worn and under-grinded.
